EWB-Philadelphia is always looking to grow its membership. We are looking for engineering as well as non-engineering professional disciplines for our international and local outreach projects. Our work requires skill sets from all walks of life whether it be in the fields of business, marketing, fundraising, health, education, journalism, language arts, graphic design, cultural studies, etc. If you want to help make an impact, we welcome you with open arms.

There are several ways to get started and involved with EWB-Philadelphia:

Attend a Chapter Meeting

Anyone is welcome to attend the chapter meetings. People interested in learning more about our chapter, our projects, and EWB, in general, should come to a chapter meeting (or several). You need not be a member. This is a great opportunity to sample the work we do and meet the people involved. If you are involved for several months, you are encouraged to become a member. If you wish to travel on a project, you are required to be one. The professional chapter holds bimonthly General Body Meetings, typically the first Thursday of the month, on the Drexel University campus. Our GBM meetings are open to everyone, no membership required! Additionally, we have monthly project meetings during the weeknight and schedule local outreach events in Philadelphia on Saturdays. Visit our EWB-Philly calendar to stay up-to-date!

Become an Official EWB Member

To become a member, join EWB-USA – EWB-USA membership page. You will then be an official member of EWB-USA and of the Philadelphia chapter. Thank you very much for your support!

Become a Professional Mentor to an EWB Student Chapter

EWB university chapters always need at least one (1) technical advisor to travel on their trips, in addition to general technical mentoring and assistance in their design. EWB-PHILLY hopes to help in providing this resource for the student members, to facilitate progress in their projects, develop technical skills and experience for these future professionals. Contact us at info[at]ewb-philly[dot]org to become a mentor or find out more about this role.

Education

Train EWB members to become future project mentors and leaders. Involve and educate the local community about issues related to EWB-USA.

Supporting EWB Student Chapters

Providing professional chapter members as a resource for technical mentoring of the local student chapters (Delaware, Drexel, UPenn, Rowan, Temple), and also helping to facilitate development/leadership of those student chapters.

Collaboration And Community Outreach In The Greater Philadelphia Region

Locally, EWB-Philadelphia’s main presence in our home community involves volunteer service projects designed to promote sustainability and remove urban blight. Through frequent collaborations with service organizations such as Urban Tree Connection, Delaware River City Corps, Habitat for Humanity ReStore, Greater Philadelphia Cares and Ray of Hope, EWB-Philadelphia volunteers alongside residents to beautify neighborhoods and clean up parks throughout the city. Visit our gallery to view some of the community work we’ve done to date.
